Inspiration

With a lack of esports betting websites and especially ones with little variety in video games, we decided to make a website which has all of our favourite games and their respective tournaments for betting. As complete beginner hackers, we made Gamer Gamble, which is a website for betting in valorant, csgo and league of legends tournaments.

What it does

Users can choose from our selection of available esports and scroll through a list of upcoming tournaments. A wager can be entered into each upcoming game and the payouts will be kept in the user's account and cashed out at any time. The simplicity and convenience of the website makes it easier to keep track of bets and promotes responsible betting.

How we built it

We began with a Figma prototype and built is out with an HTML/CSS/Javascript website. We also maintained a server using ExpressJS which could handle API requests to RapidAPI, an esports API which provides detailed data on upcoming tournaments, schedules, teams and results.

Challenges we ran into

Learning the programming languages was hard especially because we joined the event on short notice. As a small team of 2 beginners, we found it difficult to make a complete and meaningful project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We finished with a very presentable frontend and a functioning server that successfully requests actual data from the RapidAPI endpoint which was a great accomplishment.

What we learned

We learned the basics of web development and this project was an amazing first time experience.

What's next for Gamer Gamble

We hope to deploy the website and have it constantly update for upcoming events. A database could be maintained for user authentication and an age restriction and payment system should also be implemented.
