Inspiration
Thalassemia patients face recurring challenges in finding blood donors, managing urgent transfusions, and staying informed about their condition. Existing systems provide data but lack patient-focused transparency and real-time fallback options. We wanted to create a solution that bridges this gap while promoting awareness and encouraging regular donations.
What it does
RaktMittra connects patients, hospitals, and blood donors through one seamless platform.
- Patients can view available blood banks nearby and monitor emergency fallback options.
- Hospitals can book blood units, ensuring quicker and more reliable access.
- Donors can see donation opportunities nearby and receive non-cash incentives as recognition.
Additionally, an AI-powered chatbot educates users about Thalassemia, donation guidelines, and emergency support.
How we built it
We used React + Tailwind for the front-end and Node and Mongodb for backend. Blood bank data is integrated via available APIs like e-RaktKosh. AI functionalities for education and awareness were integrated .
Challenges we ran into
- Ensuring data privacy and compliance with healthcare standards
- Building a fallback system that works during booking failures
- Designing a simple yet powerful UI for different user types
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Real-time fallback booking system
- AI-powered awareness chatbot for patients and donors
- Seamless donor recognition through non-cash incentives
What we learned
- Handling healthcare-related data securely
- Importance of fallback planning in critical systems
- How to integrate AI to solve real-world awareness gaps
What's next for RaktMittra
- Partnering with NGOs and government programs for better donor incentives
- Expanding AI to support multilingual education and voice assistance
- Adding predictive analytics for donor availability
