Inspiration

The inspiration for our Blood Donation App came from witnessing the critical need for blood in healthcare facilities and the challenges in mobilizing donors in a timely manner. We observed that despite the willingness of many to donate blood, there were barriers such as lack of awareness, inconvenience in finding donation centers, and the absence of a direct connection between donors and those in urgent need.

What it does

Our Blood Donation App is a mobile platform designed to streamline the process of blood donation by connecting donors with healthcare facilities in need. By allowing individuals to register as donors, specify their blood type, and find nearby donation opportunities, the app aims to increase the availability of blood for transfusions. Healthcare providers and families can post requests for specific blood types, enabling donors to respond to urgent needs.

How we built it

We Used Flutter to make an compatible on IOS, Android and web browsers for easy access. We used firebase for creating a scalable database, backend services etc.

Challenges we ran into

The development of RAKT presented several challenges, including the integration of various data sources and systems, the management of complex workflows and user roles, the optimisation of the search and recommendation algorithms, and the design of a user-friendly and accessible interface.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our ability to meet deadlines and deliver a project with a user-friendly UI, comprehensive presentation, and numerous features in a short timeframe. We are grateful for the strong relationships we've built with our team members and mentors, which have made the work environment enjoyable and focused. By breaking down large projects into manageable subtasks and selecting the right technologies, we were able to save considerable time and effort while developing an innovative solution that aligns with current market trends.

What we learned

Through the development of RAKT, we gained insights into how technology can be leveraged to tackle social challenges and make a significant impact by linking individuals and communities in need. We acquired expertise in handling intricate workflows, merging various data sources and APIs, and emphasizing user experience and security. Additionally, we honed our abilities in project management, teamwork, and communication, which are essential for creating successful products across different sectors.

What's next for Rakt

The next steps for RAKT could include expanding the platform's reach to more communities and donors, as well as increasing the availability of blood donations. This could include forming alliances with local businesses and organizations, as well as increasing awareness through targeted marketing and outreach. Additionally, the team may investigate new features and technologies, such as real-time donation tracking or integrating with other platforms to streamline the blood donation process. Finally, on-going maintenance and updates will be required to ensure the platform's continued functionality and security.
