Overview of Project
Many homeless youth in the 2SLGBTQIA+ community experience isolation driven by both social and health-related factors. Without a supportive community, or access to gender-affirming and sexual health care, these youth often face significant pain, distress, and a lack of safe spaces to be themselves. These challenges are intensified in rural areas, where in-person, reliable support for queer youth is scarce. Additionally, youth in rural communities may experience heightened fear of stigma or violence, making it even harder to seek help. Our objective is to provide a mobile, youth-friendly hub that is accessible across rural areas and prioritizes the safety, privacy, and identity of queer youth. This mobile hub will offer essential mental health and sexual health support, assistance navigating the healthcare system, and access to gender-affirming and sexual health resources. Above all, it will foster connection and belonging by linking youth with healthcare workers and community members who can support their unique needs. Our goal is to provide immediate relief while empowering youth to build sustained, affirming networks of care.
