Inspiration
This was inspired by women being harassed and threatened in public transit, and we want to make sure that is prevented by informing women through this website that tracks the hot spots of the likelihood of harassment.
What it does
Right now, it's just a website.
How we built it
We built it with Next.js with the help of GitHub.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble managing our files and working together through GitHub. We eventually settled on working on tasks individually and somehow merging our progress into our one project on GitHub. In the process, we had trouble coding our individual components. We also had trouble understanding the starter code itself and installing it, so we used some help from Youtube and Chatgpt.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're quick learners and we got our pages working. We were able to successfully link pages and format to the best of our abilities and within the time we were given. We learned a completely new language as well!
What we learned
We learned how to use Next.js and GitHub and code with VSCode.
What's next for Railway Reliance
We would like to add a map feature so that users can visually see where many incidents are occurring. We also need to finalize the design of the page and add usable pages for our website. Additionally, we need to add data from the NJTransit line (and other lines).
