🎯 Inspiration
Everybody goes through difficult times — breakups, layoffs, betrayals. The emotions can overwhelm and take control. Body-oriented therapy suggests that breaking things helps release these feelings. But a ticket to a rage room can cost up to 300 euros. This is our digital solution.
💥 What it does
Rage Room lets you: Select the object (or even person) causing strong emotions. Describe your feelings. The AI analyzes your words and selects the most suitable weapon. Enter punch mode with boxing gloves and watch the digital copy get punched away. Switch to hammer mode and smash the object to pieces with satisfying VFX explosions.
🛠️ How we built it
3D Models: Laptop / Notebook Glove AI for Image → 3D: Microsoft Trellis (running on replicate.com) VFX: Comic Explosion Effect (Unity Asset Store) XR Implementation: Unity + Meta Quest hand interaction (gloves & hammer modes).
🚧 Challenges we ran into
Timing constraints for AI when processing emotional descriptions. Dark textures in generated objects, which made visualization more difficult.
🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of
Built a real-time pipeline from spoken emotion → semantic analysis → weapon selection. Integrated AI-driven 3D reconstruction with interactive XR gameplay. Created an experience that combines therapy-inspired stress release with immersive fun.
📚 What we learned
How to create digital copies of real-world objects in real time. How to combine semantic AI analysis with XR interactions. How much design detail is needed to make destruction in XR feel satisfying.
🔮 What's next for Rage Room
Expanding weapon variety (chainsaws, lasers, even surreal fire and voice). Adding multiplayer rage rooms for shared catharsis. Improving AI generation speed and texture quality. Exploring potential for therapeutic applications beyond entertainment.
