Inspiration

We are best friends who love to shop. As University Students, we often lack time to look through different shopping platforms multiple times to find the items we like/want to buy.

What it does

ROOKIESHOPPERS can be used to upload pictures of the items we want/like as well as the name of it, helping us remember the items we are looking for. It provides users a platform to note down the different items they want to cart out, making it easier to remember.

Furthermore, there are different platforms offering items at different prices. Users can add all these information into our application, making viewing much easier as it is in one common platform. From there, they can sieve out the item at the cheapest price and subsequently, cart out at that shopping website.

How we built it

We used JavaScript on VSCode and stored our data on superabase.

Challenges we ran into

As freshmen in School of Computing, this is the first application we have implemented. It was a very challenging journey as we have never coded in JavaScript nor have we implemented an application. On the opening day, we expected to complete at least half the application as we stayed till the end of the day at RC4. However, we came out of the RC with an empty project as the whole duration was spend learning how to implement the application through youtube videos, websites and read-ups. It was demoralising seeing other people being able to implement the 'Login', 'Home' Screen and other pages of the application yet we are stuck on the installation part.

However, this was just the beginning of our journey. We met up the day after and spend the rest of the day coding. Truly, hard work pays off and we managed to successfully implement our first application!

Overall, it was an eye-opening experience for us and is definitely a great start to our hackathon journey.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We managed to learn how to use JavaScript on VSCode We learn the different styling techniques We were able to build a functional app We were able to link the app to supabase which stores our database We were able to do the app in 2 days, under such short period of time and stress

What we learned

We learn to never give up because hard work always pays off. We also learn to persevere, endure and the importance of collaboration and teamwork. It is never easy to implement an app with just 2 people but we managed to succeed! Nothing is impossible!

What's next for [RAGCODEROOKIES] rookieshoppers

We plan to upscale our application by collaborating with shopping platforms like Shopee and Lazada to make price comparison easy for users. We also plan to upscale our application and expand our features. We also plan to collaborate with sponsors and subsequently monetise our application.
