🌊 RAFT: Survive Together

💡 Inspiration

"A world does not need to be large to create a massive impact."

In a metaverse of infinite spaces, we often feel isolated. We wanted to solve this by building a "Digital Campfire"—a place designed for intimacy. Our vision was to create a world that feels like a warm hug: instantly welcoming, deeply social, and effortlessly fun. We proved that a high-stakes survival game can still be a relaxing, feel-good experience where strangers become friends in seconds.

🌊 A World That Teaches Itself (Seamless Onboarding)

We believe the best tutorial is no tutorial. We stripped away the menus, text walls, and instructions to create an experience that anyone can understand instantly.

Intuitive by Nature: There are no buttons to learn. The raft is controlled entirely by the group’s movement. If you want to turn right, you simply walk right. The world creates a physical language that is understood instinctively, breaking down barriers for new VR users.
Invisible Guidance: Instead of arrows and UI markers, we use soft lighting, spatial audio, and environmental cues to naturally guide players from the spawn point to the dock. You flow through the world rather than navigating it.
Playful Preparation: Waiting doesn't mean doing nothing. While the raft is away, new players can explore the lobby and collect stars in a relaxing mini-game. This allows you to master movement controls and earn points for the Total Score leaderboard before the main adventure even begins.

🔥 Designed for Connection (Coziness & Progression)

We built RAFT to be a "positive loop"—a game that feels rewarding whether you win or lose.

Intimacy by Design: The world is intentionally small. The lobby is a serene island with a crackling fire that gently pushes players together, encouraging conversation and interaction before the adventure begins.
Meaningful Progression: We respect your time. Unlike typical survival games where you lose everything, here every second counts. We built a persistent scoring system where every star collected and every moment survived adds to your lifetime Total Score. You are always growing.
Positive Cooperation: This is a strictly cooperative experience. The challenge comes from the environment, not other players. When 8 people successfully steer around a rock, it creates a shared moment of triumph and joy that bonds the group.

⚙️ The Magic Behind the Scenes

To make this experience feel "magical" rather than "technical," we focused on smoothness and immersion:

A Living World: The environment is procedurally generated, creating an endless river that is different every time. This keeps the experience fresh without overwhelming the player with complex maps.
Symphony of Movement: We tuned the physics to feel "heavy" and satisfying. The raft bobs on the waves and tilts visually based on player weight, giving immediate, satisfying feedback without needing a heads-up display.
Seamless Flow: We engineered the game to handle drop-ins and drop-outs gracefully, ensuring that the social atmosphere of the lobby is never broken by technical hiccups, even when a chaotic run is happening nearby.
