Inspiration
We were inspired by the urgent need to make sustainability accessible and affordable. While big solutions exist, they often stay out of reach. RAE focuses on youth-driven, community-centered green tech that anyone can build.
What it does
RAE creates DIY sustainable technologies like automated compost bins, water filters, and other engineering marvels. Our prototypes are low-cost, educational, and designed for real environmental impact. These solutions are scalable and can be implemented across many regions, to promote the development of smart cities and green-technology.
How we built it
We use engineering design thinking, biomimicry(nature-inspiration), and hands-on prototyping. Many of our builds rely on everyday materials, making them easy to scale and teach through workshops.
Challenges we ran into
We have struggling in keeping projects affordable but functional, simplifying complex STEM concepts for younger learners, finding ways to scale prototypes beyond our backyards, technical failures within the engineering process, and recruiting funding and mentorship.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have built multiple green-tech prototypes, reached students through STEM bootcamps & workshops, and sparked interest in youth-led sustainability innovation!
What we learned
We have learned that simplicity works best for scalable solutions, teaching others helps us learn better ourselves, and community feedback makes projects stronger and more relevant.
What's next for RAE
Next, we hope to partner with schools, other nonprofits, news outlets, and city programs. We also wish to gain more funding and mentorship to help further our designs. Lastly, of course, we wish to keep proving that youth-led innovation can fight climate change!
