MAHacks Entry - Radio Show @ radioshow.tech
Radioshow is a music and voice sharing outlet for mainly students. The radio has different channels that the users can stream their voice and music to and other people can tune into their channel. Times can be reserved on each channel for the user to play and talk on. Once the user stops using the channel for more than 30 minutes, another user can claim the channel.
There will be a two hour buffer on each channel with dead spots cut out from user inactivity. There will be an explicit tag on channels in the future if the content that is played on the channel requires it.
We did not finish this project but while working in it, we learned quite a bit. For me (John), this is my first time at a hackathon and for my teammate (Garrett) it is only his second. We both came into this with not much programming experience and hardly any web development experience. The idea seemed simple to make but in trying to make it, there were many roadblocks such as playing an mp3 file on a client's browser. Even more simply, it took nearly an hour to figure out how to setup the workspace for node.js.
Though our product may not be finished, it was fun to work on and we had a good time trying something new.
