Inspiration
In my student house, housemates often complain about music and no one ever seems to be happy. We decided to address this problem.
What it does
RadioBeans gives listeners 2 options from a playlist and allows them to vote for their favourite. The song with the most votes will be automatically queued next.
How we built it
RadioBeans was built in Flutter, with our songs stored in Firebase storage and the vote data stored in a Firebase realtime database. This allows us to update vote information in real time which is essential to ensure smooth transitions.
Challenges we ran into
We built RadioBeans on Flutter web, and so had some issues using Google Cloud as it isn't fully supported yet.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The majority of the work was done at 3am on a Saturday night.
What we learned
Team work makes the dream work, and everyone seems to like our beans!
What's next for RadioBeans
Perhaps a brand deal with Heinz. Only time will tell.
