Inspiration
We thought about the grappling hook mechanic and we really liked it. We brainstormed, thinking about making it a race at the beggining, but then we thought about the possibility of hitting other players with the hook, and we liked it even more. With these two ideas we decided that we wanted to make it a fast paced free for all in which the winner is the last player standing.
What it does
It's an fast paced online multiplayer game based on a peer to peer architecture. Any player can start up a server and wait for other players to join. The players can fly around using the grappling hook, and catch other players with their hook in order to kill them more easily.
How we built it
We buillt the game using Unity Multiplayer. The graphics were modelled with Maya.
Challenges we ran into
The main challenge was the time limit. We prioritized the core mechanics, so we left the animations and sound until the end, and we weren't able to implement them. There are also some by-products of the fast development process, but they are easily fixed.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We designed and developed the game quite efficiently. The priorization of task and the time management was very well done.
What we learned
We learned and refined our skillset with Unity's multiplayer API and our ability to develop fast.
What's next for Rad Wars
We will complete the proejct and publish it.
