We came up with this idea from our own table tennis experiences. When we went to a club to practice, we sometimes ended up with people that were a lot worse than us. This was very frustrating because it wasn't helping us improve and we wanted a solution to this problem. That's why we created this website. We were also inspired by the dating app, Tinder. Similar to Tinder, people can meet up with partners.
What it does
Racket Match matches table tennis players of similar skill levels and locations. The players can choose to meet up and play to improve their skills. Racket Match requires you to put in your rating, name, email, club, and what sport you play. We use this information to match players by sending emails of possible playing partners.
How we built it
We built Rocket Match using Qoom. We used the HTML language. We learned this language by attending the TecHacks classes.
Challenges we ran into
We had trouble coming up with ideas and coming up with website names. We also had no prior coding experience so we were confused about where to start and how to code. We overcame this challenge by attending the Qoom classes in TecHacks and using w3schools.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our website, Racket Match. This is the best work we could have done considering our lack of coding experience and the time limit given to us. We are also proud of learning part of the HTML language.
What we learned
We learned how to use Qoom and how to code in HTML. We also learned the importance of never giving up to matter how hard the project seems. We were also introduced to many aspects of computer science and many coding languages.
What's next for Racket Match (Recreation)
We will continue to improve the website and fix any bugs. With more funding, we can hopefully make an app for Racket Match.
