Inspiration

We were inspired by how fast information is changing around us — from viral trends to breaking news and how little time people have to stay updated in an engaging way. While apps like Kahoot and Quizizz are great in classroom settings, they often miss the mark for solo users, fast learners, or those who want a more dynamic and fun challenge.

We wanted to create an app that feels like a daily brain race, not just another quiz. One that’s simple, exciting, and addictive — where you can quickly test yourself or challenge a friend with what’s trending right now. We imagined a place where knowledge is speed, and where every question pushes your mind a little further.

The goal? Make learning as habitual and thrilling as scrolling social media — but actually meaningful.

What it does

Race Your Brain is a fast, text-based quiz app that lets users play alone or compete with others in real-time. The app delivers daily trending quizzes, covering topics like tech, pop culture, news, and logic puzzles. It includes single-player streak mode and multiplayer matches, with a premium version offering exclusive quiz categories. It’s designed to make learning feel like a high-speed mental race.

How we built it

Tech stack: bolt.new, supabase for backend netlify for deployment

Challenges we ran into

Real-time multiplayer logic: Ensuring fairness and synchronicity in multiplayer mode required precise timing and latency handling. Balancing speed with simplicity: We had to avoid clutter while keeping the app engaging and interactive. Dynamic content curation: Trending quiz generation without compromising accuracy

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a fully functional prototype in a short time. Designed a clean and engaging UI that users found intuitive. Created a real-time multiplayer feature with fair scoring and countdown-based gameplay. Built an experience that feels lightweight but sticky and habit-forming.

What we learned

The power of simplicity — users preferred fast, focused questions over heavy gamification. AI can assist in content generation, but human validation is key to keeping quizzes fun and relevant. Time constraints sharpen creativity — we built more by focusing less on perfection and more on momentum.

What's next for Race Your Brain

Add AI-powered Quiz Creator for users to build and share quizzes. Introduce voice-activated quiz mode and audio-based questions for accessibility.
