Inspiration
By the age of 23, about 30% of people have modified their cars, and a quarter of these individuals are active members of social groups and communities. Yet, there’s no global digital space where these car enthusiasts can connect and share their passion. We were inspired by the opportunity to create a vibrant and engaging community where players can not only enjoy a fun and simple gameplay experience but also express their individuality through car modifications and collections. Our goal was to fill this gap and bring car lovers together in a unique way, leveraging blockchain technology to provide a secure and innovative platform.
What it does
Rac3r is a car game that combines the thrill of car modification with the power of community. Players earn points through gameplay, which they can use to build and upgrade their car collections. Each car is represented as an NFT, with upgrades and modifications securely managed through our game portal. The game fosters a vibrant community where players can trade cars, collections, and engage in unique events that contribute to one-of-a-kind NFT collections. Our integration with blockchain ensures secure, transparent, and efficient transactions, making Rac3r a trusted platform for car enthusiasts to showcase their creativity and connect with like-minded individuals.
How we built it
We built Rac3r using a combination of cutting-edge technologies to deliver a seamless and engaging user experience. Our frontend was developed using React and Next.js, which provides a fast and responsive interface for users. The backend infrastructure, built with Node.js and Express, handles game logic, user authentication, and data management robustly and scalably. We manage token updates securely and ensure seamless ownership and control over NFTs. The hierarchical collection system allows players to organize and manage their car collections efficiently, enhancing the overall gameplay experience.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main challenges we faced was ensuring the secure management of NFTs. Specifically, to enable accessing and authenticating the NFTs only through our Portal.
Additionally, creating a community-focused platform that genuinely engages users posed challenges in designing features that cater to both casual players and hardcore car enthusiasts. We found incredible reddit communities of car build enthusiasts. One of the challenges that we faced is implementing the backend in a high scale and robust way. We are aligned with Moxy's vision on the need for Infra for WEB3. especially for portal management of NFT collections. One in particular is the need for portal managed NFT collections. meaning the NFTs can only be accessed, viewed and updated by our game portal. and we need to be strictly scalable, secure and transactionally consistent. which is where Moxy's infra and vision is aligned with our needs.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are particularly proud of how we’ve managed to create a platform that not only offers an enjoyable gaming experience but also a strong sense of community among car enthusiasts. Successfully integrating the NFT collection into the game has allowed us to offer secure, transparent, and efficient transactions, which is a significant achievement. We’re also proud of the unique events and customization options we’ve developed, enabling players to create car collections that truly reflect their personal stories and identities.
What we learned
Throughout the development of Rac3r, we learned the importance of balancing technical complexity with user experience. Integrating blockchain technology into a game while keeping it accessible and engaging was a significant learning curve. We also gained valuable insights into community building, understanding that the success of our platform relies heavily on creating meaningful and engaging interactions among users.
What's next for Rac3r
Moving forward:
