Inspiration

We were thinking of ideas, and we saw a calculator nearby. It was a solar-powered calculator, however. This got us thinking; what if other devices, such as laptops, could be solar-powered. The idea was born.

What it does

Our laptops contain solar panels implanted in the laptop rear. These solar panels accumulate energy from the sun, while in use or offline. This energy is used by the laptop, and when that energy runs out, the laptop battery would be used.

How we built it

We used research to determine the effectiveness and price average for our product. Although we didn't actually build it, we wrote about how it works and what it is on a website.

Challenges we ran into

We were inexperienced in coding, so we needed to learn the basics and research to come up with a website that contained all the information we had.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to create a website.

What we learned

We learned the basics of HTML coding. We also learned the very basics of Python and Java from the workshops provided to us in this hackathon.

What's next for Helios Electronics

We are thinking of products such as phones that can be powered on solar panels. We are also looking if there is a way to further minimize the use of the laptop battery itself and see if the device can be completely operated on solar panels.
