Inspiration
We were inspired by the plethora of learning management and assessment software on the market today. As high schoolers, we are expected to use them day in and day out, so as a result, we have developed a pretty deep understanding of their advantages and disadvantages. With this understanding, we were inspired to tackle challenge 1 on the ed-tech track and try to reimagine assessments and LMS.
What it does
Our project assesses the reading and speaking skills of students using program made assessments that are open to teacher modification. Our project is unique in that rather than separating the process of assessing reading and speaking, we combined the two. This enabled our project to make better use of student time and provide a more comprehensive analysis of student capabilities.
How we built it
We built our design using the design and prototyping tool Figma.
Challenges we ran into
One challenge we ran into was trying to determine the most optimal way for assessing the outlined parameters. They are pretty abstract and hard to conceptualize, so we had to spend quite some time thinking about things like what does it mean to be an accurate speaker or reader.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the complexity that our design was able to have while still remain simple to use and intuitive.
What we learned
We learned alot about innovation from the initial zoom meetings on Saturday. Some members of the team had never used Figma before, so they were also able to learn how to use tools that can help them be better designers and creatives.
What's next for R&S Leveler
We hope that R&S Leveler inspires some innovation in the LMS market.
