Inspiration: We are all close friends or relatives with someone who has ADHD or Dyslexia, and we've all witnessed their struggles with reading or focusing on one thing at a time. So, to make everything easier for them, we decided to create a website that takes long pieces of text and summarizes them using AI so that our friends and family will be able to better understand and take in information.
What it does
Takes long pieces of text and accurately and concisely summarizes them using AI.
How we built it
We created a text box, took the input from the text box, ran it through the AI function that summarizes it, and then took that input and printed it out below the text box.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to connect the function, text box, and output, because we got confused really easily about the order in which we were supposed to connect them and how we could even connect them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud that even though this is our first hackathon, we managed to complete all of these difficult tasks with the guidance and help of our amazing mentors.
What we learned
We learned how to communicate as a team and to ask for help when needed, and also how to focus!
What's next for R.E.A.D.
We plan to add additional features, such as highlighting, virtual magnifying glasses, and a TTS (text to speech) function for those who can focus more on audio rather than visuals. However, our general mission is to make understanding information easier for those who have difficulty focusing and reading.
