Inspiration
We were inspired by a simple observation: sustainability often fails not because people don’t care, but because they lack clarity at the moment a decision is made. Most solutions expect users to track habits or provide data they don’t fully understand. We wanted to build something that respects real human behavior and steps in only when guidance is genuinely needed.
What it does
Qylo.ai is an AI-powered decision feedback app that helps users make more sustainable choices only when they face a real-life situation. Users log a situation, and the AI generates realistic alternatives with clear environmental impact and personal cost. Users choose freely, add their own options, and see the outcome of their decision—without daily tracking or intrusive monitoring.
How we built it
We designed Qylo.ai as a web app using a modern low-code stack (Lovable/Base44) with AI at its core. The system combines situational input, impact estimation, and a community learning loop that improves recommendations based on real user choices. The focus was on simplicity, accessibility, and making the demo intuitive and judge-ready.
Challenges we ran into
One key challenge was avoiding generic sustainability tracking while still delivering meaningful impact metrics. Another was designing AI suggestions that feel realistic and non-preachy, especially when balancing sustainability with cost. Ensuring the product stayed simple for a layperson while still being powerful was a constant design trade-off.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built a conceptually new approach to sustainability—decision-based rather than habit-based. Qylo.ai respects human priorities like cost and convenience while still guiding better choices. We’re especially proud of the community-driven intelligence loop, which learns from real behavior instead of ideal assumptions.
What we learned
We learned that sustainability solutions must align with how people actually think and decide. Clarity, timing, and respect for user autonomy matter more than perfect data. We also learned how powerful AI can be when it supports human judgment instead of replacing it.
What's next for Qylo.ai
Next, we plan to expand Qylo.ai for school-wide and community use, improve impact accuracy, and introduce scenario templates for common decisions. Our long-term goal is to make Qylo.ai a trusted decision companion wherever sustainable choices matter.
