🧠 Inseiht: From Idea to MVP — A Startup's First Step

💡 Inspiration

Every day, thousands of people have shower thoughts that could change the world. A brilliant solution to a problem they just faced. A spark of creativity that feels like the next big thing. But only a small fraction — perhaps less than 5% — ever take action.

Why?

Not because the ideas aren’t good. But because idea validation, market understanding, competitor analysis, and MVP planning feel intimidating, complex, or expensive. Most aspiring founders don’t know where to start — and that's the gap Inseiht was born to bridge.

Inseiht was created to answer one key question: What if turning your idea into a startup felt as easy as having a conversation?

🔧 How I Built It

Inseiht is a full-stack web application powered by the Perplexity Sonar API, built using:

  • Frontend: React (with Tailwind CSS for styling)
  • Backend: Flask API
  • Language Model: Perplexity Sonar

Functional Flow:

  1. User inputs a raw startup idea
  2. Inseiht uses Sonar to ask 5-6 clarifying questions, one at a time
  3. The answers are compiled into a structured business concept
  4. This is then refined into a pitch-ready narrative
  5. A deep research process is triggered to generate:
    • SWOT Analysis
    • MVP Feature Roadmap
    • Market Scope
    • Active Competitors
    • Suggested Names & Branding

The result? A fully backed idea report with insights that would otherwise take hours to compile.

We also built:

  • A Report Viewer to explore detailed analysis
  • A Feature Planner to define and prioritize MVP launches and future updates

🧪 What I Learned

  • How to design strict prompt flows for multi-stage LLM interactions
  • How to use Perplexity Sonar API effectively for structured, deep business research
  • How to guide an AI system to behave like a conversation-driven strategist
  • Building reliable fallback handling and progressive UX loading states

🧱 Challenges Faced

  • Designing conversational stages while preserving idea context across API calls
  • Preventing hallucinations or irrelevant outputs from Sonar in open-ended prompts
  • Making sure that the UI mirrored the fluidity of a conversation, while also giving the user structure
  • Testing multiple models before choosing Sonar due to other APIs being unreliable and difficulty in setting up

🌱 What’s Next?

We envision Inseiht evolving into:

  • A cross-platform tool - get your ideas validated at fingertips
  • Collaborative workspaces for teams to refine ideas
  • Integration with prototype builders or investor outreach tools

Building Inseiht reminded us that ideas are abundant, but execution begins with clarity. Our goal is to make idea refinement, research, and MVP planning something anyone can do — not just experienced entrepreneurs.
