Inspiration

I was inspired to build this app when I encountered some of the seniors in my community struggling with reading the Quran on their phone or tablet. It was hard for them to read the text . The apps they were using didn't do a good job with the text size and playing audio recitation with highlighted text.

What it does

Quran for Grandma is a voice-controlled, large-everything Quran reading app designed specifically for elderly Muslims with difficulty reading small text. It combines an accessible portrait reading experience with a landscape immersive mode, real-time word-sync highlighting, and a family setup flow.

The product is differentiated from existing apps by going far beyond font scaling. No existing app combines large-tap-target UI, hands-free voice control, auto-scroll landscape mode, word-level audio synchronization, and family-managed setup into a single experience.

How we built it

As a non-technical founder, I built this using Claude Code and the Quran.com API.

What's next for Quran for Grandma

I want to continue building and refining the product based on feedback from the target audience. This will allow me to understand what features would be most beneficial for senior Muslims.
