Quizley
Quizley is a crazy eights game combined with a bit of computer science trivia in Python, designed to be both fun and educational for audiences of all ages.
Introduction
Playing card games was extremely enjoyable as a child for both of us who created this simple command line game. We both really enjoy the strategy behind card games, so we decided to clone crazy eights and add our own spin on it. By requiring players to answer a trivia question when playing cards, we added a skill component to the game, forcing winners to win through some skill, not just by luck of draw.
Mission Statement
Our goal is to create educational games that are balanced. This means that in order to win these games, there is more emphasis on player skill and experience. We aim to also bring education in our games, challenging users to solve problems by applying critical thinking skills in a fun environment.
Why We Built This
Both of us being relatively new to programming and computer science it was a game we could create, but has room to expand. Both of us understand the extreme importance of education, especially when younger. More time means more experience, which leads to higher competency and performance levels.
What's Next
In the future, we both want to expand this project to have more and better designed games. For our crazy eights project, we would like to add more categories of questions so it's not about just computer science, but about multi-disciplinary education. Another to-do would be creating a GUI for the game so it's more intuitive and navigable.
Since it's just a command line game right now, porting it to and iOS or Andriod application would be high on the priority list. From there, we could integrate social media API's to make the games more accessible and social.
Once our crazy eights application is well polished, creating an original game would be our highest priority.
