Hello, I am Steven Chen.

I developed an AI teaching assistant to enhance the learning experience of young children. In recent years, New Jersey has been experiencing a teacher shortage in schools, which has made it increasingly difficult to provide students with the individual attention they need. Research in cognitive science and child psychology shows that young children benefit greatly from personalized interaction with teachers. Interestingly, before the age of 13, children typically have stronger listening comprehension skills than reading comprehension, though this gap narrows as they grow older.

To address these challenges, my AI teaching assistant uses voice interaction to communicate with students—an approach better suited to younger learners. The difficulty level can be tailored to each student’s needs, ensuring a personalized learning experience. The AI can work with a variety of materials, including digital content, scanned book pages, and PDFs. It is capable of explaining material, generating questions based on a student's learning level, checking answers, and providing clear explanations. Students can also ask follow-up questions and engage in interactive dialogue with the AI assistant, making learning more engaging and effective.
