Inspiration

As beginner students, we wanted to build something that combines learning with fun. Traditional quiz apps have a fixed set of questions, so we asked ourselves: what if the quiz never runs out, and adapts to any topic or skill level? That's how QuizMind AI was born.

What it does

QuizMind AI lets users type in any topic (history, math, science, anything) and instantly generates a set of multiple-choice quiz questions using AI. Users can also choose a difficulty level (Easy, Medium, Hard) and set a countdown timer per question, making the experience competitive and engaging.

How we built it

We built the app using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The frontend collects the user's topic, difficulty, and time settings, then sends a prompt to Claude's API, which generates the quiz questions in JSON format. The app parses this response and renders the questions dynamically, tracking score and time in real time.

Challenges we ran into

As beginners, one of our biggest challenges was learning how to call an external AI API and correctly parse its JSON response. We also had to handle edge cases, like what happens if the user runs out of time or the AI response isn't formatted correctly.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we built a fully working, end-to-end AI-powered application in a short amount of time, despite being new to web development. Seeing the quiz generate real, accurate questions for any topic we typed felt like a huge milestone.

What we learned

We learned the basics of working with APIs, handling asynchronous JavaScript (async/await), and structuring a simple but functional web app from scratch. We also learned how to design a clean, user-friendly interface.

What's next for Quiz mind AI

Next, we'd like to add features like a leaderboard, multiplayer mode, sound effects, and the ability to save favorite quizzes. We'd also like to support image-based questions and more language options.
