Inspiration India has over 250 million tobacco users. Through our Tobacco Free Bharat initiative, we've seen that quitting is hardest in the first weeks — when there's no immediate reward for the sacrifice. We discovered the x402 protocol, which lets AI agents send instant micropayments based on real-world triggers, and realized: what if quitting came with instant, automatic positive reinforcement?
What it does QuitChain lets users log a daily tobacco-free check-in. Once verified, an AI agent automatically sends a small blockchain-based reward directly to their wallet — instantly, with no manual approval. Longer streaks unlock bigger rewards. How we built it Built on the x402 payment protocol using its starter kit as our foundation. The flow: user checks in → backend verifies streak status → an AI agent triggers an autonomous x402 micropayment (test USDC on Base Sepolia) to the user's wallet. Challenges we ran into Self-reported check-ins are easy to fake; we kept verification simple for this MVP, with the architecture designed to later plug in real verification (health APIs, pharmacy partnerships) Our team had zero blockchain experience going in — learning wallets, stablecoins, and the x402 flow was a real curve We scoped tightly around one core loop (check-in → verify → payment) rather than overbuilding Accomplishments that we're proud of A working, end-to-end agentic payment loop, built with no prior blockchain experience Grounded in a real public health problem we already work on, not a hypothetical An architecture flexible enough to extend to other causes (education, sustainable farming) What we learned x402 made blockchain payments far simpler than expected — the harder problem was designing trustworthy verification for real-world behavior. We also saw how naturally "instant reward" models could apply beyond crypto, to public health and behavior change. What's next for QuitChain Real verification via wearables or health app APIs WhatsApp-based check-ins A pilot with our existing Tobacco Free Bharat participants Extending the same model to reward climate-resilient farming or school attendance
