Inspiration
Quip is a party game inspired by Cards Against Humanity with a social media twist.
How to play
The game consists of a total of 5 rounds. At each round, players fill in the blank of a popular tweet. The winner is decided by the total number of votes their answers receive at the end of five rounds.
How we built it
Built using sveltekit, tailwindcss, socket.io, and express .js
Challenges we ran into
Socket.io and SvelteKit were frameworks that we were using for the first time. Most of our time was spent on reading documentation, trying to figure out what tools were available and debugging our code when things didn't work the way we thought they did. The most prominent time sink was not realizing when code written using SvelteKit was run on the server side and when it was run on the client side, which messed with our web sockets.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of the aesthetics of the page
What we learned
How annoyingly frustrating it is to learn new frameworks under time pressure. Redbull ( it gives you wings )
What's next for Quip
The frontend can be improved further with a proper design and mobile responsiveness. Backend code can do with a major refactoring.
