Inspiration

Our Inspiration for Quilt is to create an interconnected Web3—a web3 where users can freely socialise with themselves regardless of the chain. Think of how we use web apps or product no matter the mobile/internet provider used. The inception of Quilt came from the fact that in the current Web3 space, socialisation within the same network is 'non-existent' or extremely difficult, with users still needing to use Web2 tech to socialise, which is like using mail carriers to send emails (FedEx) in this digital age. Also, there isn't an informal way to trade Non-Fungible-Tokens (NFTs), with exchanges becoming relatively centralised without any social feel. Our protocol aims to become a space where users can socialise and transact. Our goal is to increase the adoption of Web3 by providing a secure and easy way to socialise and transact with friends (new or old) without worrying about the chain to use, creating a protocol where everyone can be free, just like how we socialise at the bar.

What it does

Our product is a social protocol, an ecosystem that returns to the root of Web3. A decentralised social ecosystem allows seamless socialisation amongst various chains, supporting the creator economy by allowing NFT creators a means to receive commissions, set NFT auctions, and much more from users without needing to use exchanges such as Opensea and Rarible. A social protocol that'll support Game-Fi, allowing their users to trade and socialise their Web3 Game Assets in-game. Starting with a chat Dapp

Challenges we ran into

We had challenges utilising OrbitDB to read messages after storing, but we saw it was too slow. We decided to keep we'reDB as a secondary storage, but usiWhat's js. Also,Quiltsed Web3.storage, and other IPFS technologies to allow users transfer files

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We've been able to build our initial product, which we're in the process of making it 'cross-chain', ensuring users from other chains, starting with POLYGON to chat and transfer pieces of media without worrying about switching networks

What's next for Quilt

We have itemised our roadmap on the Tezos network into phases which are listed below:

Phase I:

General Chat: Our initial product to the Tezos Ecosystem is a general chat that’ll allow users to converse freely, similar to a public forum where people post their minds. It also enables users to post media such as pictures and GIFs. Global Chat: Our first step into creating an interconnected Web3 is making a chatroom, i.e. (Our General chat) that’ll enable Ethereum-based networks, starting with the Polygon Network and Solana, to interact with Tezos community members.

Private Messaging: Our P2P messaging feature will enable Tezos community members to socialise amongst themselves securely. Barter & Auction: We will add NFT trading on our general chat, starting with Tezos. Through the Auction/Barter feature, members chatting on the General chat can bid for NFT without needing to go through Opensea, creating an ecosystem on our platform. The winner of the Bid automatically gains the NFT. The seller has to show the NFT on the Global chat for bidders to see. Plug & Play: The first step in making our project open. Our first step is creating an Iframe, allowing other projects to use our established features.

At this stage, we will research how to integrate Ethereum(Starting with Polygon) & Solana with the Tezos Community and vice-versa. It may require us to build an infrastructure to enable such compatibility, thus increasing the Tezos community.

Phase II

P2P NFT TRADE: Our over-the-counter trade will allow users in the Tezos community to trade their NFTs among themselves without needing to bid on the General Chat. Naming Feature: With our Naming Feature, users can save the wallet addresses of their friends however they want. Profile Picture: Our users can save their NFTs as their profile pictures at this stage. Open Wallet Integration: We will expand the wallet needed to log in from the temple wallet to another, starting one wallet at a time. Global P2P Trade: This feature will allow our users from Polygon, Solana and other Ethereum chains to trade with members of the Tezos Community and vice versa while chatting with members on such chains.
