Problem

From Mia: "This app was built out of personal frustration. As a cost-conscious shopper, I don't like to overpay for anything, so I use GoodRx to find the best prices for my prescriptions. If I wanted to send my prescription to somewhere other than my default pharmacy, it was a hassle having to call my doctor to ask them to resend my prescription. GoodRx lets you find the best prices, but it doesn't allow you to shop directly from their site, so that's how I came up with this idea. Our idea is simple, but it could be expanded in so many other ways to make healthcare easier and safer".

What it does

QuickScripts allows patients to shop for low-cost prescriptions, as well as access their electronic health record from home. With the incorporation of blockchain, users can be assured that their information is secure and protected.

How we built it

It's a React app that is built using a little JavaScript and is deployed on Firebase.

Challenges we ran into

We lacked team members with experience in software development, so we couldn't create a final product that fully demonstrates the use of blockchain in our app.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Coordinating on a group project requires a lot of communication to ensure everyone is on the same page. We're proud to present this project together because there were times it felt like we lacked the skills to complete the challenge. Ultimately, we each brought a unique skill set to the table to form a strong team.

What we learned

The use of blockchain opens up a lot of possibilities for the healthcare industry. It was fun to learn about the potential ways blockchain will impact our current systems, as well come up with our own solution to address consumer needs.

What's next for QuickScripts

A few more things need to happen to really allow for user testing. We need team members that can implement blockchain into our app, and then we would like to build a mobile app, next. Later in the future we would like to explore the impact QuickScripts could have on healthcare systems abroad.
