What it does
QuickNotes is a website where you can quickly and easily log your mood each day.
How we built it
We built it using react, react bootstrap, styled components, react router, and recharts, all of which we had never used before.
Challenges we ran into
A few challenges were form submission, storing data, and displaying the mood history, as well as creating the pie chart to show mood trends. All of these were things we hadn't done before, and that took us a while to figure out.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We accomplished our goal and overcame all our challenges. This was something we really didn't know if we'd be able to finish in the time given because we were so inexperienced with what we were trying to do. Being able to work past the myriad of challenges and errors was really satisfying.
What we learned
We learned how to make a website with React Bootstrap, and deepened our knowledge of Javascript and HTML. We learned a lot of critical-thinking skills as well, and how to use some unconventional ideas to bring an idea into fruition.
What's next for QuickNotes
To continue, our next steps would be to add the option to choose 0-100% of small moods, such as nervousness or joy, to give a more in-depth report and be able to show relevant information for users in the statistics page. Overall, we want to be able to extract more information easily, and use that to help users feel better each day. That might include recognizing thinking traps or prompting users to re-think a situation and write about it some more.
