Inspiration
Our inspiration stems from the need to effectively schedule meetings that are convenient for all participants. Many times we schedule times on websites that only allow us to set the timings for a certain day or week, but sometimes we cannot build a definitive schedule that does not change. We all need room for change.
What it does
Our website QuickMeet quickly schedules and organizes meetings based on majority availability. We allow the user to select the date when the meeting/event is supposed to be scheduled and let them select when they are available throughout the week for that meeting/event. In case the meeting is supposed to repeat, the user gets the opportunity to fill in availability for the following weeks, ie alternative week schedule.
How we built it
We mainly used JS, HTML, and CSS to build and design the webpage and calendar. We created two HTML files to launch the home screen and the calendar page and designed a CSS file to beautify each page. The JSS was used to link the webpages and create the functionality of the calendar.
Challenges we ran into
We mainly had a challenge in creating buttons for the events on the calendar and linking the web pages together.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a working webpage as a group of people who have never coded in HTML, JSS, or CSS before. We are also happy that we have a design that we all like.
What we learned
We learned that creating webpages are so time consuming. The detail that goes into creating the page itself, the buttons, linking them, hover, design, layout, color scheme, images, drag/drop, etc are all small parts of websites we did not even think about. We definitely appreciate web designers and UI/UX designers more after this.
What's next for QuickMeet
We definitely hope to finish the product and make it a working service for all those who are trying to schedule a meeting for anything they would like to accomplish. We want to launch our website in the future.
