We saw a gap in how communities connect for small but meaningful tasks—like helping seniors shovel snow or donating clothes. We wanted to create a platform that makes helping local neighbors easy, trustworthy, and rewarding, especially for students seeking volunteer hours. QuickHelp lets users post and respond to local help requests. Volunteers can accept tasks, track hours, and communicate securely. The platform includes task tracking, AI smart assistant, and a dispute resolver. We used Firebase Studio as the backend for authentication, real-time database, and hosting. The app features a modern, mobile-first UI and a role-based system for requesters and volunteers. We ran into challenges like integrating the task flow logic (start/stop task with verification) and running into a few repeating errors which took us quite a while. We're proud of building a working prototype with real-time task posting and tracking in addition to a built-in volunteer hour logging feature. We learned that technology brings all of us close together. Integrating Google Assistant support and in-app voice commands, launching a teen volunteer leaderboard and gamification system and we want to expand to schools and local city partnerships.
