Inspiration

Our team was inspired by the pursuit to create practical, real-world applications of generative AI within a product-centric and customer service lens. We wanted to create a product that would use AI in a productive way that makes life better for customers and businesses.

What it does

FrontierFix is a AI Chatbot help-desk, that has the sole goal of recommending the best product solutions based on the needs and wants of the customer. The customer inputs their info and situation, and the AI Chatbot uses a preexisting database in order to promote Frontier products for that specific customer.

How we built it

We built the project in two parts: Front-End UI and Back-End Data Structures. The Front End was built using the React library in Visual Studio Code. We used the resources given by the Hackerpack in order to start our code, then once we got the hang of things, we began to mold it into our own unique product. The Back End was primarily built using Python, also in Visual Studio Code. We also translated Frontier product and consumer information into .json files that the AI API used to help answer user questions more accurately. Again, we utilized resources given through the HackUTD discord regarding the API implementation of the SombaNova AI.

Challenges we ran into

Going into the Hackathon, we were inexperienced in Back End development practices and API implementation. It took us a long time to figure out how to fully flush out the Back End, but slowly but surely with the help of various resources, we were able to figure it out. We also had a hard time creating and using a GitHub repository, as it was our first time with that tool.
