Inspiration
We decided that we wanted to make a full-stack web app, which would play into our strengths as a team. The Impricius sponsor challenge combined with the curator's cause was the perfect place to showcase our skills while building a hack that was truly meaningful.
What it does
QuickCharts provides healthcare professionals with the tools to send questionnaires to patients ahead of their appointments to gather relevant data about their patients' situation. QuickCharts leverages a large language model to provide adaptive responses to the users' concerns and symptoms. QuickCharts then provides both the user and the HCP with a short summary of their responses. Over the long run, this saves both patients and HCPs a tremendous amount of time, as they can save time in their visits. HCPs can get a quick grasp on the situation and provide their patient with the best treatment possible.
How we built it
We built QuickCharts using a Spring Boot / Java backend in collaboration with a Vue.js and tailwind.css frontend. Using these frameworks, we were able to quickly put together a full-stack app with the capibility to host a large language model which can provide high-quality feedback to a plethora of users at once.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a few challenges using version control, as it was new for some of the members in our group, but we pressed forward, even though some merge conflicts caused some embarrassing and unfortunate setbacks.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are so proud of the app we made, coming together as a team without a plan, and looking for members on the matchmaking site. We are proud of how well we worked together despite varying levels of experience and different areas of expertise.
What we learned
We learned a ton about working with a team in real time and how to map out larger projects and break them down into manageable goals to tackle individually. Some of us also got to experience different tools and frameworks for the first time, which was a great experience.
What's next for QuickCharts
We don't plan to stop at the end of HackGT12 with QuickCharts. We see the potential it has, and we hope to add even more features that help improve the coordination and experiences between patients and HCPs.
