Inspiration
The inspiration for QuickChanges came from a desire to make volunteering and contributing to society accessible to everyone, regardless of their busy schedules. We noticed that many people wanted to help but didn't know where to start or felt they didn't have enough time. We wanted to bridge this gap by creating an app that offers flexible, meaningful tasks that anyone can fit into their day.
What it does
QuickChanges connects users with a variety of volunteer tasks that fit their schedules and interests. Users can choose from tasks that take anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours. Each completed task earns points that can be redeemed for rewards or donated to causes they care about. The app tracks their impact, showing users the tangible difference they are making
How we built it
We used javascript html css, for the frontend and firebase for the backend. Our next steps is to migrate react and update our backend.
Challenges we ran into
Timezone/teammate leaving. We all have completely different time zones me and my partner literally have opposite clocks. That and we had a teammate completely leave we had to make a new backend from scratch last minute.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Remaking the whole backend. Going around are neighbourhood and asking what we could add to the website then implementing such features such as, reward system and cool sound effects.
What we learned
We learned how to incorporate changes from users feedback. We learned how to deal with adversity and how to really hone in on collaboration through hourly meetings and check ins. Lastly we learned new coding skills from going to sql and mongoDB to firebase and change python to javascript.
What's next for QuickChanges
We want to make a social media side to this website where people can upload their tasks that they have accomplished and interact with others.
