Inspiration
Remittance is huge in the Caribbean. In Haiti and Jamaica, the value of remittances as a share of GDP were 23.18% and 23.6% respectively in 2022. However, the current system of sending money home through banks is inefficient. Cryptocurrency can make remittance transactions significantly faster, more secure, and cheaper by cutting out middlemen.
What it does
Provides a simple interface for users to send cryptocurrency and keep track of cryptocurrency that was sent to them. The app also has a learning feature and an e-commerce store that allows users to spend their crypto in the app.
How we built it
Built with React Native, Solidity, Coinbase API, and Firebase.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out how to make the app as simple as possible for users that don't use many apps or have low digital literacy.
