Inspiration
Drawing blood is a critical part in evaluating an individual's health. The goal of this project is to eliminate the requirement for trained professions to extract a patients blood by using a system of soft robotics and computer vision.
What it does
With the aid of computer vision, this tool allows an individual to properly line up a needle to a blood vein at the appropriate angle. Once aligned, the needle is actuated with soft robotics with the exact force and displacement require as to not damage the fragile vein.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
In 24 hours we have procured 2 different working methods for lining up a needle to blood vein: Classical Edge Detection and Image Classification Neural Network. Further, we have produced a prototype that geometrically aligns a needle point with a camera lens. Finally, the soft robotic system allows us to precisely inject a needle into a person's arm without harming the individual.
