Inspiration

QuestLearn was born from a simple idea: learning shouldn't be boring.

Today, when someone wants to learn a new skill, they usually have to search through countless articles, videos, and generic online courses. Most learning platforms offer the same content to everyone, regardless of their previous knowledge or learning pace.

We wanted to create something different: an AI-powered learning adventure that adapts to every learner, making education feel like playing an RPG instead of completing another online course.


What it does

QuestLearn creates personalized learning journeys powered by AI.

Users simply enter the topic they want to learn. The AI first evaluates their current knowledge through adaptive questions and then generates a unique quest line tailored to their level.

Each mission teaches new concepts through interactive challenges. If a learner struggles, the AI automatically adjusts the difficulty and provides easier questions and explanations until the concept is mastered.

At the end of the journey, users face the Final Boss: a real-world project generated specifically for them. The AI reviews the submission, provides detailed feedback, and encourages continuous improvement until the learner achieves mastery.

Instead of memorizing information, users learn by doing.


How we built it

We built QuestLearn during the OpenAI Hackathon - Manta, where our team of four divided the project into independent modules.

Each teammate took ownership of an entire feature, allowing us to develop multiple parts of the application simultaneously. Once every module was completed, one team member focused on integrating everything into a single MVP.

Our project combines AI-powered adaptive learning, dynamic content generation, personalized feedback, and gamification to transform education into an engaging experience.


Challenges we ran into

Building QuestLearn was exciting—but far from easy.

There were moments when we honestly thought we would have to abandon the hackathon. Time was running out, AI integrations failed unexpectedly, and several technical issues appeared during development.

We constantly questioned whether we would finish before the deadline.

Fortunately, every obstacle became another problem to solve. By supporting each other, dividing responsibilities, and staying focused, we managed to overcome every challenge and deliver a working MVP.


Accomplishments that we're proud of

Our biggest accomplishment wasn't only building QuestLearn—it was proving to ourselves that we could create something meaningful under intense pressure.

We're incredibly proud that QuestLearn won 1st Place at the OpenAI Hackathon Manta, validating both our idea and our teamwork.

We're also proud of creating an adaptive AI learning experience that doesn't just generate content, but continuously guides learners until they truly understand a subject.


What we learned

This hackathon taught us much more than new technologies.

We learned that great ideas become reality when a team trusts each other, communicates well, and refuses to give up.

We also discovered how powerful AI can be when it's used to personalize education instead of simply generating information.

Most importantly, we learned that under pressure, people are capable of learning, building, and growing much faster than they imagine.


What's next for QuestLearn

This MVP is only the beginning.

Our vision is to expand QuestLearn into a complete AI learning platform with richer RPG mechanics, achievements, collaborative quests, progress analytics, and support for many different learning paths.

We also want to improve the adaptive AI engine, making every learning journey even more personalized while expanding the variety of final projects and feedback capabilities.

Our long-term goal is simple: make learning any skill as engaging as playing your favorite game.
