Inspiration

In The Incredibles 2, Mr. Incredible boldly claims, "Math is math!" Well, curriculum and teaching styles have varied so much over the years that "math" isn't just "math" anymore! This shift in teaching from rote memorization to flowery word problems has helped some students, but not others. We wanted to build a website that provides supplementary explanations and aid to students who need the assistance--in any subject.

What it does

QuestionGenie lets the user ask about any topic, and then it generates an explanation, an example problem, and many practice problems. This way, students get hands-on practice with the topic.

How we built it

We used Ollama's API on a HTML/JS/CSS webpage.

Challenges we ran into

Incorporating Ollama was a struggle, especially with the need to self-host. Additionally, working on CSS was like herding cats: lots of blood was shed in the fight to keep our divs in line.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of implementing the AI feature, as most of us had never touched AI or API's before this Hackathon. Also, despite all of us meeting only a month ago, we worked really well together with good communication and flow.

What's next for QuestionGenie

QuestionGenie will take the world by storm by helping students everywhere prepare for their tests. It will revolutionize the way students study. We will also incorporate more dynamic lessons that explain further until the student achieves a certain score on any given "quiz" of a few questions.
