Inspiration

We wanted to reimagine productivity through a lens of humor and fun. The idea of turning boring tasks into quirky “quests” felt like the perfect blend of useful and delightful — something to actually help users, while also making them smile.

What it does

QuestBoard is a playful productivity PWA that transforms everyday to-dos into whimsical quests on pastel sticky notes. As users complete tasks, they gain XP, level up with humorous titles, and enjoy confetti-filled celebration effects. Each quest is reworded with a funny name and commentary (e.g., “Do laundry” becomes “Defeat the Sock Kraken”).

How we built it

Built entirely from a single AI-generated prompt using Bolt.new, QuestBoard runs as a responsive, installable PWA with:

Handwritten-style fonts and pastel UI
JavaScript for XP/level logic
LocalStorage for offline persistence
A service worker and manifest for full PWA support
CSS animations for confetti and interactions
Keyword-based humor engine for task transformation

Challenges we ran into

Ensuring full iOS Safari compliance (e.g., handling audio autoplay restrictions)
Creating fun animations that are lightweight and mobile-friendly
Making humor feel contextual and varied while still being simple to implement
Designing a UI that’s fun and polished without fantasy or game clichés

You don’t need dragons to gamify productivity — just creativity
Tiny UX touches (like sound, animation, and voice) go a long way
Humor is a surprisingly powerful motivator when it’s well-executed
With the right prompt, AI can deliver a complete, delightful experience in one shot
