Inspiration
Being a person whos taught countless people to code I'm always looking for ways to make my classes more interesting, this is why when I heard about Twilio Quest I was instantly intrigued. After looking through the platform I was in love, from the level of depth included in the storylines to the amazing rewards and ranking system for gratification. Having discovered this platform and loving to make discord bots I decided to combine both of these things that I love.
What it does
Quest Comms takes the player through all the basics of setting up and coding a Discord bot in python. The mission starts of simple with tasks such as finding the developer portal, but by the end it teaches how to make custom commands and send messages.
How I built it
I built this project using the base template that is given on the Twilio GitHub account and then making changes to the map, objects, and objectives.
Challenges we ran into
Since TwilioQuest is relatively new it became difficult to code as there was no more stack overflow. Luckily both Joe and Ryan were extremely helpful and helped me throughout the entire process.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Being able to finish despite the long debugging times and the severe lack of both sleep and motivation after the 36 hour mark.
What I learned
I learned how to use the TwilioQuest platform and I also learned how to communicate between JSON files.
What's next for Quest Comms
Short Term:
- adding better rewards
- making the verification process easier Long term:
- Adding side quests after the basic missions are done
- Adding a separate side for JavaScript
