Inspiration

We are Que Chimba and we want to help the tourism economic sector to recover.

Tourism has been hit hard, with millions of jobs at risk in one of the most labour intensive sectors of economy. US$80 billion in lost exports, due 67 million fewer international tourists up to March. Domestic demand is expected to recover faster than international demand according to the United Nations World Tourism Organisation Panel of Experts survey

What it does

We are going to build a community where tourism agencies will publish their experience offering, with special benefits to our users. EOSIO blockchain will help us in building an auctioning system to sell the experiences to the highest bidder.

Our users will compete with each other in an interactive duelling app and expend their tokens in exchange for benefits offered by agencies. Every user will have the same opportunities to earn tokens by their daily interaction in the app. Users who participate in the auction and do not win will still get a great reward in tokens for being part of it.

Our token economic system consists of two entities, the tourism operator which offer experiences and exclusive content, and the "bakanes" which create and oversee content with high quality to get rewards and participate in auctions and thanks to EOSIO blockchain we would be able to build a legitimate auctioning system and completely prevent possible frauds and scams.

How we built it

We created an auction system smart contract that will handle our users interactions in the duelling app, using GraphQL we are sending transactions to the blockchain and also we got to query data from the blockchain using “eosjs” library. To start up the blockchain and the whole infrastructure we create an infra project which uses Kubernetes to spin up the technology stack.

Challenges I ran into

Getting data from EOSIO was one of the biggest challenges we had, we tried to use “fill-pg” plugin but it was difficult to configure so we decided to go with the javascript library and leave fill-pg for the future.

Another challenge was understanding the authority framework which dictates how an user can interact with the blockchain and get to submit actions.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

My team was very professional and got a very good quality product is such a limited time. The whole architecture of the system is so good that can be deployed to a cloud service very ease.

We got to implement a good portion of the auctioning system and the contract is very reliable and debugged.

What I learned

As a team we learned a lot about EOSIO, Blockchhain, GraphQL, Smart contracts and the list is very long!!!

What's next for Que Chimba

We dream to have the world largest and most truthful tourism community and auctioning system with a fair and just access to tourism resources without inequality and thanks to EOSIO we are going to achieve that.
