Inspiration

We realized that a lot of our families have been planning to travel as soon as the quarantine is over. So we thought that having a database of the best places to visit as a tourist at the touch of your fingertips would be useful to a large demographic as soon as the pandemic is over.

What it does

Quarantravel presents you with a world map and multiple major countries to choose from. You can click on any of these countries and Quarantravel will provide you with the information you with the tourist restrictions, COVID safety rating of the country, the amount of active COVID cases, and the best tourist destinations in this country.

How we built it

We used pygame for the UI and a mix of python APIs and webscraping in the backend to retrieve all the information about each of these countries.

Challenges we ran into

Webscraping is something we've never done before, so we had to face a slight learning curve in order to get information about countries.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have figured out how to get real-time information without any obvious data sources. (e.g. web scraping, covidpy library)
