Introduction
In recent years, the call for transparent and secure voting systems has grown louder. Inspired by the need for more accountable electoral processes, we have proposed a new system, Quantum Voting, which integrates blockchain technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to ensure a secure, private, and transparent voting environment. This proposal was presented at a hackathon to demonstrate its viability and the revolutionary potential of combining these technologies.
Main Features of Quantum Voting
Accessibility
- No Login Requirements: Users are not required to register with cryptocurrency wallets or complex credentials.
- Simplified Identity Verification: Voters can authenticate by uploading a photo of their official ID (INE) along with a selfie.
AI-Powered Authentication
- Facial Recognition: AI technology compares the photo on the INE with the selfie to verify identity.
- Similarity Verification: Access is granted only if the AI finds a similarity score above 90% between the INE photo and the selfie.
Privacy and Security
- Data Privacy: Personal information is used solely for initial access and is not stored, ensuring voter privacy.
- Secure and Transparent System: Votes are recorded on the blockchain by encrypting the voter's unique ID (IDMEX) with their chosen candidate. This method keeps the voter's choice confidential while confirming their participation.
Benefits of Quantum Voting
- Total Transparency: Each vote is securely logged on the blockchain, making alterations or deletions impossible.
- Universal Access: The system is designed to be user-friendly, allowing participation from all citizens without complex requirements.
- Data Security: By not storing personal data, the system ensures the highest level of data privacy and security for users.
Integration with Chainlink
To enhance transparency, we implemented a Chainlink function consumer within our system. This ensures that the Know Your Customer (KYC) process is transparent and unalterable, providing unprecedented audit capabilities. The integration with Chainlink allows for real-time verification that the processes have not been tampered with, adding an additional layer of security and trust.
Using Avalanche for Low-Cost Transactions
The system utilizes the Avalanche blockchain platform, known for its low transaction costs and high throughput. This ensures that the voting process is not only secure and transparent but also cost-effective, making it scalable and practical for widespread use.
