Inspiration
We were inspired to create this site by Poets.org's initiative Shelter in Poems and by our own love of poetry.
What it does
Our website, directed towards teens, allows users to view and submit calming poems to ease their fears and spread positivity to others during the coronavirus quarantine.
How we built it
We built this site using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript on repl.it which allowed both of us to conveniently work at the same time. Our website uses Google Firebase to save submitted poems to a database and retrieve poems from this database to display them.
Challenges we ran into
We had to figure out how to use Google Firebase, which neither of us had used before.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating a functional and visually appealing website! This was Azzie's first time coding a website and Caroline's first time using a Google Firebase so both of us learned new things with this project.
What we learned
-How to code websites in HTML/CSS/JS
-How to load fonts from Google
-How to use Google Firebase's realtime database
What's next for Qualm Calming Poems for Quaran-teens
