Inspiration
As a graphic design student who has interest in computer science, I have always been fascinated by the technology part of design. My TA in one of my art classes mentioned he wanted to code a demonstration of how Bézier curves, the cornerstone of vector graphics, are generated, in order for designers to better understand their design process.
What it does
The program takes three points and generates a Bézier curves accordingly.
How I built it
I researched about Bézier curves intensively and translated the concept into parametric equations. I then used the processing language to implement the amination.
Challenges I ran into
Translating the math into code was really challenging. It was two different mindsets.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Control points, frame rates, animation length, pretty anything are all adjustable.
What I learned
The beauty of code and how it drives design and art.
What's next for Quadratic Bézier curve Generator
- Think of and implement an algorithm that works with any number of control points (as you said). Turns out this might actually be easier than I thought.
- Convert the code from processing (Java) to P5.js (JavaScript), so that it can be displayed and interacted on a website.
