What inspired us

We started off with two ideas: one was a minimalistic, personal version of a book tracking website and the other was a web game. We decided to merge those concepts and build a game-like book tracking website for kids. It's a modern challenge to get kids to read for fun and we wanted to build a website that would make it into a engaging challenge for them.

What we learned

Through this hackathon, we experienced what it was like to plan a project, how to adapt our ideas, and carry through with a project. We learned how to collaborate through git and also familiarized ourselves with online collaborative IDEs. From making the project, we solidified our skills in various areas.

How we built it

In order to build our fundamental skills in web development, we built the app using pure HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Challenges we faced

It was difficult to work together through virtual communication. We were in different time zones. We had to figure out what technical skills we were familiar with and could all use. Our team was very hopeful to implement a complete a wide range of features and a backend system. Although we tried until the last minute, we weren't able to but it was a great opportunity to learn.
