QuackBot

Quack up your server with this lovable duck bot. It somehow wandered from the pond into your server and now wont leave? You can talk to it, play with it or ask it for some family photos.

Inspiration

We all want a pet duck because ducks are really cool. But instead of actually getting a pet duck and risking eviction from your home, we built QuackBot instead. QuackBot wandered from the local pond and now lives in your Discord server.

What it does

QuackBot is a sociable duck. You can !talk with the bot and have a conversation. However, you might not be able to understand it's duck-like ramblings.

QuackBot is also a needy duck. Regularly check it's !status to ask how it's feeling. You can !play with and !feed the bot just like a pet!

QuackBot sometimes gets nostalgic about home and is always eager to show you pictures from home. Use the !duck command and QuackBot will find a random photo of it's relative for you.

QuackBot can even sing with the !music command! Although currently it's vocal chords are a bit sore and the feature is a WIP

How we built it

This project was build in a team of 3 using the Python discord bot api and was developed on Replit.

Challenges we ran into

Faced a lot of challenges with the music bot and playing audio files. Seems like QuackBot doesn't want to sing for us right now.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

The random duck photo API works well + the pet features and artwork makes QuackBot feel like a part of your family.

What we learned

Learned a lot about the Discord api and bot development process.

What's next for QuackBot

Teaching QuackBot to sing and getting the !music feature working perfectly. Extra customizability with the pet features.
