What QR Code Crafter does

QR Code Crafter turns a small print campaign brief into a checked set of QR code files and a clear handover list.

Preparing QR codes for flyers, menus, packaging and signs involves more than drawing a square image. Every destination needs the right filename and placement. The code needs a clear border, strong contrast and enough resolution for its printed size. Most importantly, the finished file should be read back before it goes to print.

The new create_print_ready_qr_campaign WebMCP tool accepts one request containing one to five public HTTPS destinations. It validates the complete brief, generates each SVG, PNG, JPG or WebP file at the requested physical width, then reads every finished QR code and compares its destination with the one requested.

The result includes a status for every placement and a public handover list for the designer or printer. If editable codes are requested, their private management details are returned separately and never appear in the QR image or public list.

What is new for this challenge

QR Code Crafter existed before the challenge and already supported QR generation, editable redirects, bulk generation, print checks and earlier WebMCP tools.

After 25 August 2026, I added create_print_ready_qr_campaign: a new end-to-end WebMCP workflow for complete print campaigns. It validates the whole brief before making changes, optionally creates editable redirects, converts the requested millimetre width to at least 300 dpi, generates each final QR file, reads each finished file and compares its destination using a SHA-256 fingerprint, reports partial failures without automatic retries, and produces a public handover list while keeping private management capabilities separate.

This is a meaningful new workflow rather than another wrapper around the existing generator. One plain-English request now coordinates several production steps and returns evidence that each finished asset contains the intended link.

Why WebMCP

Without WebMCP, an AI assistant would need to click through several forms and infer whether each download worked. WebMCP lets QR Code Crafter describe the exact task, inputs and result structure to the browser's assistant.

The person stays in control of the campaign brief and physical proof. The assistant handles repetitive production work through the specialist website and receives structured verification evidence instead of judging an image by sight.

How it works

The live Next.js application registers create_print_ready_qr_campaign through the browser's WebMCP interface. The tool combines safe validation of public HTTPS destinations, capability-based editable redirects when requested, and verified QR generation with final-file decoding and destination comparison.

The canonical discovery document is available at /.well-known/webmcp.json. The live application is deployed on Netlify.

Testing

The workflow was tested with focused Jest coverage, type checking, linting, a production build and live endpoint checks. It was also tested end to end in ChatGPT's in-app browser against the deployed site.

In the recorded demonstration, one request creates three 25 mm SVG files for an A5 flyer. Each finished image is read back, the destination matches exactly, the four-module clear border and 21:1 contrast checks pass, and the final public handover list contains no private management information.

How Codex and AI were used

OpenAI Codex was the primary development environment, under Andy Fairweather's direction. It inspected the existing architecture, implemented the new orchestration layer and WebMCP contract, wrote tests, verified the live deployment, prepared the isolated public repository and helped assemble the submission.

ChatGPT's in-app browser tested the deployed WebMCP workflow. HyperFrames helped with transcription and timing for the demo video.

Limitations

Digital decoding is a strong preflight check, but it is not ISO/IEC 15415 certification or a substitute for testing the placed artwork and one physical proof at final size.

The verified campaign workflow supports SVG, PNG, JPG and WebP because those formats can be decoded by the current verification service. PDF and EPS remain available elsewhere in QR Code Crafter.
