Have you ever struggled to develop great project ideas or stay motivated to finish the ones you’ve started? I know I have. That’s why we created QonnectR. It’s a platform designed to make collaboration effortless. With secure signup through Auth0, you can create a profile, showcase your projects, and invite others to join in. Plus, you can discover and hop on projects with like-minded individuals, turning solo ideas into powerful team efforts. QonnectR isn’t just a platform—it’s a community built to turn creativity into reality.

What it does

Our full-stack web application bridges the gap for individuals struggling to bring their project ideas to life by connecting them with like-minded collaborators. These connections foster accountability, ensuring that efforts are productive and meaningful. Users can create personalized profiles to propose their project ideas or join existing groups, forming a supportive community around shared goals. Users can showcase their achievements upon completing a project, inspiring others and even building upon their work. Our platform empowers collaboration and innovation and transforms individual challenges into collective successes.

How we built it

We built our application using JavaScript, Node.js, React, Firebase, and Auth0 to deliver a dynamic, secure, and user-friendly experience. React handles the front end with efficient state management using hooks like useState, while Firebase powers the backend with real-time database functionality. Auth0 ensures seamless and secure authentication. The QR Code Generator feature, built with the react-qr-code library, allows users to input a name and link, generating a personalized QR code. The app uses simple conditional rendering for smooth transitions between input and display screens, with a clean, intuitive design for ease of use.

Challenges we ran into

As a team, we had to overcome several challenges associated with our application. The first notable challenge was related to React libraries used for generating QR codes. Since libraries that utilize React require specific versions we needed to determine a useful library that employs a recent version of React. Our solution was to use the react-qr-code library as it was simple to integrate with our program.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of being able to create a solution for a well-known problem. Many people want to build projects and be part of a team but either lack motivation or resources. QonnectR brings people together to share ideas and collaborate on projects.

What we learned

The majority of our team learned about building full-stack web applications. Using tools and frameworks such as React, Firebase, Firestore, AWS S3, Bootstrap, etc. We all come from different technical backgrounds but as a team, we learned and grew together to complete our application.

What's next for QonnectR

The next step for QonnectR is to integrate our application with Apple Wallet. Add our QR code based profile system in the Apple Wallet will allow users to easily be able to connect with each other at networking event and other group settings.
