Inspiration

We were inspired by the difficulties faced by mosque managers in Gorontalo City who had to wait a long time—sometimes indefinitely—to receive a qibla direction certificate. Often, the only way to get a certificate was by visiting the Ministry of Religious Affairs office in person. Additionally, there was no public archive or way for the community to validate the accuracy of their mosque’s qibla calibration.

What it does

The app enables mosque managers to request and receive official qibla direction certificates online. It also allows anyone in the community to validate the authenticity and accuracy of these certificates directly through the app.

How we built it

We built the app with a focus on user-friendly design and robust data security. The development process involved close collaboration with local religious authorities and community feedback to ensure the app meets real needs.

Challenges we ran into

Our main challenges were ensuring the app was secure, only accessible to Gorontalo residents, and easy for users of all technical backgrounds. We also had to design a reliable validation system that builds trust among users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud to have created a transparent, accessible, and secure digital service that streamlines the qibla certification process and empowers the community to validate certificates anytime, anywhere.

What we learned

We learned the importance of user-centered design, the value of digital archiving, and how technology can bridge gaps in public service delivery.

What's next for Qibla Direction Calibration Certification Service App

Next, we plan to expand features for better user support, integrate with more local government systems, and continue improving data security and accessibility.
